Private Island Goes On Sale in Northern Ireland for £600,000
Ever wanted to own an island? The recession has opened up an opportunity in County Fermanagh. Inisliroo, a tiny island on Lough Erne, has been put up for sale for an initial asking price of £600,000.
The images below from estate agents BTW Cairns show the house on Inisliroo and the view of Lough Erne from the island:
The island is one of 365 located on Lough Erne (mapped below). Aside from the house, which is the original family home built on the island, your £600,000 will also get you mains water, a phone line and a startomatic electric generator. Planning has also been approved for a 2,000 square foot detached family home.
The current owners have owned it for five years and in that time have learned about the island’s history.
The Island had to fully provide for the Maguire family and as such every piece of it was utilised. After the Second World War the Island was famous for its fruit production. The orchard provided much needed revenue and today it is still very much in tact.

What would you do with your time if it was spent living on an island? You could get up close and personal with a jet ski (just remember to stay on):
