Zig and Zag To Star in Animated Series

Zig and Zag, beloved by Irish children everywhere in the 1980s and 90s, are coming back – although in a slightly different format. The aliens, who hail from the planet Zog, will star in an animated series on CBBC and RTÉ in 2013, reports the IFTN.

Zig and Zag first hit Irish screens in 1987 on Dempsey’s Den, which was later taken over by Ray D’Arcy. They soon found fame beyond Ireland’s shores by featuring on the Channel 4 morning show The Big Breakfast. They even scored a top 5 UK hit with “Them Girls Them Girls”:

In case you were wondering, Wikipedia reports that Zig and Zag’s full names are Zigmund Ambrose Zogly and Zagnatius Hillary Zogly. They celebrated their 40th birthday in February of this year.

A teaser released by Flickerpix animations shows the pair attempting to get some ice cream for themselves…
