Lunchtime Banquet on a City Centre Dublin Street
Ever wondered what a banquet in the middle of a bustling Dublin city centre street would look like? This lunchtime, a food-oriented flashmob was held on North Earl Street, not far from O’Connell Street.
The dining event was held to give people inspiration for Street Feast – a national event aimed at bringing communities together for street parties all across Ireland on June 17. According to the Street Feast website, “There are lots of good reasons to have a Street Feast, but it’s really just a great excuse to eat great food, celebrate your local community and meet new people who live near you.”
Sam Bishop, one of the founders of Street Feast provides some insight into the project in the video below:

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Andrew Montague, even got in on the action:
Our very own Darragh Doyle had a chat with him about what Street Feast means for communities in Dublin and around Ireland:

After his lunch, the Mayor jammed out on the ukelele for an impromptu song with some local musicians:

What do you think? Would you hold a street party?
