The former world heavyweight boxing champion, Mike Tyson, is due to visit Limerick on 10 October – and is hoping to meet Katie Taylor, the Irish Olympic champion, while there.
In a tweet yesterday evening, Tyson, famous for his controversial career, said he was looking froward to the event at Thomond Park organised by Mike O'Regan of CWH Promotions.
I’m going to be joining Mike O’ Regan and everyone in Limerick, Ireland on October 10th at Thomond Park. Looking forward to it guys.— Mike Tyson (@MikeTyson) September 5, 2012
In an interview with the Limerick Leader when the event was first announced, O'Regan revealed that Tyson had put in a request to meet Katie Taylor during the one-day trip to Ireland.
'We are hoping that Katie Taylor will be there on the night, because we know Mike wants to meet her, if at all possible. He saw her matches on television,' said the promoter.
The event is ticketed, and there are a limited number of meet-and-greet tickets for fans who want to have a photo taken with the boxer.
