Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was due to return to Ireland to shoot a scene for his upcoming blockbuster Dabangg 2. But the Irish scene was cancelled because, the director said, Ireland was too rainy.

The Irish Film Board confirmed reports carried in the Indian press that the shoot was abandoned due to constant wet weather.

Part of the crew travelled to Ireland to assess the conditions for filming a musical sequence in the countryside, and decided to call off the project.

The director of Dabangg 2, Arbaaz Khan (Salman’s brother), told India Glitz ‘it would have been futile for all of us to sit there and wait for the skies to clear up. We will have to shoot somewhere else.’

The Irish Film Commission, a unit of the film Board with responsibility for promoting Ireland as a location, said they are actively pursuing other Indian productions.

The filming of a small portion of Dabangg 2 on Ireland’s west coast was cancelled due to an unseasonably wet August.

However, after our success in convincing Yash Raj Films to make Ek Tha Tiger to Ireland, we are in active talks with leading Bollywood Studios to bring more Indian  feature film to Ireland.

Tourism Ireland's India office facilitated the scouting trip, and said the crew 'needed clear skys and a sunny day' for the shoot, in the absence of which they decided to 'postpone' the Irish scene.

The scene will now be shot in another foreign location, with Turkey being reported as a possibility.

Dabangg 2 is the sequel to the action hit of 2010, featuring Salman Khan as ‘Robin Hood’ Pandey, a less than straight-laced cop caught up in a feud with a powerful politician.
