Two lucky Irish start-up businesses could be on their way to getting €10,000 in funding each from Simply Zesty founder Niall Harbison.

He is looking for great Irish business ideas that have the potential to create 20 – 30 jobs in the next few years. The video above offers a little bit of insight into the ideas behind the big giveaway, and Harbison also outlined the competition on his blog here.

Though Harbison will not be involved in the business, his investment of €10,000 would come in exchange for 10% of the company. He outlined the business model on his blog:

In return for the €10,000 I’ll take a 10% equity stake in the business but i’ll be the most silent partner you could ever ask for. This is your gig. That would value the company at €100,000 before you even start which is why this competition really suits start ups best. You don’t even have to have a business plan yet. You don’t have to wear a suit not do you have to suck up to a bank manager to grovel for the money. All you need is an idea.Just because I like food and social media doesn’t mean the business has to come from those areas either. I’d invest in a product, a person, a shoe maker, a pig farmer, a new movie you want to make, a rock band, a nightclub or even a new fashion shop or website. All I want to see is some passion and the drive that I know you will need to make this happen.

From Niall Harbison

There are two different competitions for €10,000 each currently underway on Harbison’s blog. Find out more on how to enter here.
