#YeatsDay Marks Birth Of Nobel Poet

June 13, 2012 marks the 147th birthday of WB Yeats. To mark the event, poetry readings were held in Sligo, but we wanted to do something different.

We’ve collected some Yeats recitations from YouTube and there’s lots more out there. Is there clips you would add? Drop links in the comments below so we can all check them out!

Have you ever heard Yeats recite his own poetry? It’s a bit odd…

The Waterboys embarked on a fascinating project, called An Appointment With Mr Yeats, in 2011. The album consists of songs based on Yeats’ poetry. Here, Mike Scott talks to Ronan Collins on RTE Radio about the idea and the influence of Yeats on his career:
