The Best of Robbie Keane's Goals
Ahead of tonight’s crucial Ireland v Spain match in Gdansk, Alan Ryan looks at Irish Captain Robbie Keane’s best goals.
As George Hamilton once said “A nation holds its breath”. Tonight can be considered Irelands do or die game of the tournament. Could we have asked for a harder opponent than the defending world and European champions? Of course not. After a defeat against Croatia many have lost faith in the Irish team and are predicting an early exit. Almost everybody has written us off and we of course have been labelled with the underdog tag. Not a bad label to have going into this crucial game, I would say, and Irish captain Robbie Keane was quick to defend the Boys in Green when questioned by press yesterday.
To get all of the WorldIrish community who are following the Irish team ready for tonight’s game we’ve compiled a list of our most prolific goal scorer and some of his best goals.

The strike in injury time that earned Ireland a draw against world cup runners up Germany in 2002 which would help Ireland make the last 16 of the tournament.

The last time we met Spain in a tournament it was this strike that drew us level with them in the Last 16 of the world cup where we only lost in penalties.

A Keane brace against Estonia in the Euro 2012 qualifiers is what got us to Poland and the Ukraine along with a showdown with the world champions that will determine our faith!

If you’ve lost faith let this be a reminder that were never out of the game, it’s a game of two halves with 11 men on both sides and anything can happen. Were the underdogs and we haven’t got a thing to lose. Come On Ireland! Come on you boys in green!
