Crowds gather across Ireland for vigils in memory of Savita Halappanavar

Crowds gathered across Ireland this evening for candlelight vigils held for Savita Halappanavar who died after she was 'refused' an abortion at a hospital in Galway - the story has been making headlines around the world.

A minute's silence was held outside Dáil Eireann with a crowd of about 900 people - traffic remained at a standstill.
