That's a turn up for the ducks - Offaly duck returns home

Remember the story about the globetrotting duck ornament that went missing from the bonnet of a car while visiting Tullamore for a weekend? Well it has been returned home safe and sound!

Speaking to the Offaly Independent after the return of the ornament, Charleville Castle volunteer Ausra Jevelaygyte said she was taking out the rubbish when she saw a car stopping by the castle and a man putting the duck on a table in the grounds.

She told the Offaly Independent that she didn't get to speak to the man before he left, but she promptly recovered the duck and brought it to the volunteers' kitchen in the castle.

'It looks ok,' she told the newspaper. 'There's a little bit of dirt on it, but no damage.'

The duck's owner, Charlie, said that he was very pleased when he heard the good news.

Well thank duck for that!
