The Dublin Web Summit is well underway, bringing together some of the brightest minds in the web world at the RDS in Dublin. Speakers at the event include Niklas Zennstrom (Founder of Skype), Eric Ly (Co-Founder of LinkedIn), Mikael Hed (CEO of Rovio), and many more great minds from the online world. Here’s a bit more about how the web summit was established and the goals of the event:
The Summit was started by Paddy Cosgrave to provide Irish start ups and web types with the opporunity to meet and learn from incredible entrepreneurs, investors and influencers at about half the cost of comparable events in Europe. In 2011, we’re staying true to that aim but welcoming with open arms our new friends from across Europe who have heard “good things” about a Summit in Dublin.
Attendants were impressed by the “Tweet Cafe” set up by ESB. Hungry techies can simply tweet a hashtag to the machine to choose their item. The machine then dispenses the tasty treat.
Paddy Cosgrave, Founder of the Dublin Web Summit, talks about establishing the event and what it has to offer to online businesses in Ireland.
ESB Electric sponsored the Spark of Genius Award as part of the Dublin Web Summit. Start-up companies compete to be named the hottest new start-up and win a €40,000 support package. Shortlisted companies pitched their products at the web summit today. Check out the promotional video for the competition below.
