Why is Bono painted onto a huge egg?

It's part of Dublin's Big Egg Hunt  - the biggest Easter Egg hunt ever to happen in Ireland.

Presented by Lily O'Brien's chocolates, over 100 fibre glass eggs will be located around Dublin from Tuesday 12 February for 40 days and 40 nights, each one decorated by well known artisans and celebrities.

Well known names decorating the eggs include Guggi, Graham Knuttel, John Rocha, Rick O'Shea, Diarmuid Gavin, Derry Clarke, The Strypes and Joe Duffy.

The locations of the eggs won't be revealed - the public will be allowed find the two and half foot eggs themselves.

There are prizes to be had too - part of the treasure hunt is to find twenty eggs, each with a code allowing the finder to enter for a grand family prize - diamond pendant earrings, a chocolate factory visit for kids and a year's supply of chocolate from Lily O Briens.

It's all in aid of the Jack and Jill Children's Foundation.  An online auction will begin on February 12 ending in a live auction at Dublin's Four Seasons Hotel on March 23. Anyone can buy one of the hand crafted eggs, destined to become highly collectible and valuable works of art and genuine talking points.

Some of the eggs by Irish artists have already been painted and are shared on the Big Egg Hunt Dublin Facebook Page .

Here's a video of Irish artist Paul D'Arcy painting his egg.
