Ireland of the early 1900s has been recreated in vivid colour in this series of Photochrom images. The photos are colorized images produced from black-and-white photographic negatives which yield ink based photolithographs. The prints come from the US Library of Congress and feature images from 1890 – 1905.

The stunning snaps include landscape shots as well as some familiar images of recognisable spots in Dublin. According to the Library of Congress, “Like postcards, the photochroms feature subjects that appeal to travelers, including landscapes, architecture, street scenes, and daily life and culture. The prints were sold as souvenirs and often collected in albums or framed for display.”
