Irishman Takes Motorcycle Tour to Discover India's Diversity
Hugo Gill, an Irishman living in Australia, has embarked on a 30 day motorcycle journey to explore the Northeast of India. Gill, along with his friend Indian national Kalyan Prasad Emmandi, left on Saturday from Visakhapatnam on a journey to discover the local cultures of the region. According to a report, the journey is a celebration of cultural diversity, and the men will be stopping in eight states to share their experiences with locals and university students.
Hugo Gill told The Hindu that the journey would be a eye-opening experience for him.
Hugo says that he is excited about the adventure which would give them an opportunity to explore and taste the cultures of the region. Being in an accountant by profession, this trip traversing through mountains and valleys and multiple states will provide an off beat experience, he felt.

However this is not the first extended motorcycle journey for Gill, who is an accountant. Gill previously embarked on a solo motorcycle expedition around Europe travelling extensively throughout England, France, and Switzerland among other countries.
Kalyan Prasad Emmandi has also had his fair share of motorcycle adventures, having completed a 2,200 kilometer trip through the southern states of India in 2011.
The men embarked from Visakhapatnam, located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, which can be seen on the map below. They will continue on their journey into eight northeastern states in India and Kashmir.
The pair met as members of the Clontarf Cricket Club while Kalyan was studying business in Ireland.
“I had been dreaming about the trip for four years. The aim is to experience different cultures and to spread the message of peace and brotherhood. Hugo and I had actually conceived the idea when we were doing business studies in Ireland and playing cricket for the Clontarf Cricket Club. Hugo was my club mate and he had an admiration for India, a multi-cultural and multi-linguistic country,” Kalyan said.
