Development update on WorldIrish V1

At WorldIrish, we believe the online social graph is evolving to the point where we no longer belong to just one social network but instead select affiliation with online communities that represent our collective thinking, common values and shared experiences. We believe that social, cultural and economic lives can be enriched through the establishment of an inclusive, welcoming and positive online community network. As the web continues to grow rapidly, we believe that making sense of the sheer volume of online interactions requires alignment between users and curators of such networks.

Most technologists must now agree their responsibility is no longer limited to building a functional component or designing a functional product or developing a functional piece of code. The human factor now enters into our equations. How will the person use my app? Where and when will then use it? How will it interact with them and them with it? And, in my opinion the most important one, how can I make it useful for them? Would love to hear your comments on that one!

The WorldIrish development team have an ambitious commitment to enable this great global community to seamlessly connect, inspire and support each other. Our responsibility is to supply useful tools and technology so that members of the WorldIrish community can find, listen, explore, share and organise information in a manner not quite seen before in the space of social web.

Our implementation of technology is more important than the technology itself. And that is not to take away from the strides that have been made in device design, networks and search algorithms in recent years. It is how we use this new technology to deliver a more meaningful and useful WorldIrish.com to our community that is important and that is what we are concentrating on. BTW, some of the technology we are using is very cutting edge in the area of search and has even managed to raise the odd eyebrow among our most discerning and senior developers.

We don’t use the word ‘community’ fashionably. This project, we believe is not just powered by, but also steered by the Worldirish community. So we listen. Send us your ideas or thoughts of what you would like to see on the next version of WorldIrish.com – comment below, email us [email protected], tweet @WorldIrish or Facebook us via www.facebook.com/worldirish. And a big thanks to all the members who continue to inspire and support us.
