Do you recognise these people? Found at Dublin Flea Market

Do any of these men look familiar to you? They're just four of some twenty-odd photographs I found stuffed into an old, broken wallet at the Dublin Flea Market. Some of the photos say '30 Grafton Street' at the top of them, while one of them bares the stamp of a Talbot Street photo shop.

They're a really fascinating find, not least for insight into the style of the time (moustaches were big) and I'd love to get an idea of how they ended up in this battered old wallet at a flea market. The people in the photos don't seem to bear any resemblance to one another and only one woman (in the bottom row below) got several photos taken.

I'm guessing the photos date from around 1915 - 20 although my knowledge of early 1900's dress isn't exactly exemplary. I also presume that they had these types of photos taken professionally as portraits and these are the test shots?

In any case, they look like a pretty morose bunch which begs the question - when did it become fashionable to smile in a photograph?

If anyone has the inside scoop on photo portraits of the early 20th Century, or you recognise one of these faces from a grandparents mantlepiece get in touch!

Below is the full set of photos:
