Spare a thought for the poor Red Squirrel. It hasn't had the easiest time of late, what with its grey cousin coming over to Ireland and muscling in on its territory – and its food.
Numbers of the ginger critter have dropped significantly over the past 50 years – so the last thing it needs is for them to be reduced further by careless motorists. That's why this road sign in Mount Stewart, Co Down is so important. Squirrels like to hang out in trees at the roadside, so do take care the next time you're behind the wheel.
