I live in Delaware in the USA. I have Irish roots on both sides of my family. My great grandfather on my mother's side came to Delaware from Kilkenny to escape all that was happening in Ireland at the time and started the first carriage company in Delaware. He was very successful and his brothers came over too. They also started the first indoor/outdoor farmer's market. They gave a lot to the churches so they could be built in the area and there are stained glass windows with the family name in dedication on them. I am very proud of what my family has accomplished and that they wanted their traditions passed on to us so we'd never forget our roots. I am very proud and thankful that they struggled to make sure their children and the future generations would grow up in a better situation. I've been to Ireland but still have not been to Kilkenny. That will be next on my bucket list.
