Our image of the day is of a beautiful shot of the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare taken by photographer Damien Stenson.
I went down to the Cliffs of Moher to capture the milky way setting over the cliffs. As I drove down, I was aware the moon was setting around 10.30pm. I wasn't aiming to capture the moon setting but driving up from Doolin the moon was a beautiful colour. I parked up and raced up to only get three pictures before the moon set. Ideally I was hoping for no clouds but living in the west of Ireland , you take what you get. About an hour after this the sky had closed over.
The moon is setting here with the Milky Way rising above the cliffs and from behind the clouds. The orange light to the left is light from Liscannor and probably Lahinch.
