"Irish Charlie"
Posted 2 days ago
Charles Lewis Robinson, affectionately known to all the locals as 'Grandpa Charlie' or 'Irish Charlie', is my great-grandfather and was a proud Irishman, with love of song, of laughter and Irish whiskey. They say he had the gift of Blarney, sang like a poet aching for his homeland, and played the fiddle like King of the Leprechauns. It was in 1934, that he sadly died in a Coal Mining accident in West Virginia. Although Ireland is forever in his soul, he rests atop Belcher's Mountain in West Virginia alongside his beloved Cherokee wife, Arminda, ("a ghrá mo chroí")~ and where my young beautiful grandmother, Nellie, was also laid to rest only a short decade later.
Yes, you can be sure tis a grand mix from the proud Irish and the proud Cherokee that I faithfully share with my children in this treasured legacy.
Thanks for letting me share!
Sláinte!
