Part Three: Meeting my fellow Kerry Rose contestants

Last weekend I got the opportunity to meet my fellow contestants for the Kerry Rose Selection in the Carlton Hotel in Tralee. The day was an information briefing on the events that are to happen in the next few weeks.
I must admit I was pretty nervous heading in. The majority of the girls had already met on a night out on the town a week or so ago, so I was arriving with not a notion who anyone was!
Thankfully though, it's true when they say that it's a small world!
Turns out that one of the girls entering the competition was at stage school with me in Tralee and another went to primary school with me! It was pretty great to get the opportunity to catch up with them after all of these years. All of the rest of the contestants were so lovely and I already see us having quality bonding time haha!
I was going to pull out of a performance piece but was persuaded to do one in the end. So on 17 May, I'll be singing as Gaeilge! Hopefully I won't mortify myself on stage but sure it's all a bit of craic.
There's so much to do in the next few weeks but it sounds all incredibly exciting. All the past contestants I've spoken to have said that it really is one of the best experiences of their life.
Next weekend is the Kerry Rose Tour where we'll be roaming the county in our sashes - I can't wait!
